Tame Impala have managed to accomplish a lot since releasing their debut EP back in 2008, going from the most talked about musical project in Perth to an in-demand touring outfit whose songs get covered by Rihanna.

So if Justin Bieber can have his own biography (it was more of a pamphlet really) when he hasn’t even turned 18 yet, why can’t Tame Impala already have documentaries made about them? That’s what one super-fan asked himself.

YouTube user Beach Impala recently unveiled his own homemade documentary about the Perth group, entitled From Down Under to On Top: Tame Impala. Rustic but heartfelt, it features clips sourced from the web edited together with the filmmaker’s own voiceover.

“I was inspired to make this video after both watching the fan-made Mac DeMarco documentary Tossed Salad and by seeing that there is not yet a true Tame Impala ‘documentary’ on YouTube,” he wrote.

“So, I took the liberty of creating one myself. It’s the first such project I’ve ever done, but it was a lot of fun (I did it in four days though, so it’s certainly not the most professional).”

That said, the fact that a fan felt compelled to spend four days cutting a makeshift documentary about their favourite band and then actually went ahead and did it, well, you’re looking at a true music fan there, folks.
