The Weet-Bix jingle is as Australian as… well, a bowl of Weet-Bix. The iconic Sanitarium product is a staple of the Australian breakfast table and the song is etched into the hearts and minds of every Aussie.

But it’s well in need of an update. That’s why Sanitarium are calling on Australian musicians to help them remake the iconic jingle. The chorus must stay the same, but entrants get to rewrite the intro and middle verse.

As The Music Network reports, the best entries will be shortlisted for airtime in a new TV commercial with an overall winner scoring $10,000, a Sanitarium prize pack, and a half-day studio recording session.

Two runners up will also receive $3,000 (2nd prize) and $2,000 (3rd place), which isn’t too shabby. What’s more, the winner will be collaborating with the likes of country music stars Troy Cassar-Daley and Amber Lawrence on the tune.

Sanitarium have enlisted the help of Cassar-Daley, Lawrence, singer Jai Waetford, and others to work on the jingle remake that will eventually be included as part of a new Weet-Bix commercial campaign to air this year.

“The Aussie Kids anthem is the heart and soul of Weet-Bix. We are thrilled to have these talented Australian musicians and aspiring songwriters help us create a new version for the next generation of Weet-Bix kids,” said Weet-Bix’s Alex Garas.

Entries are open now to Australian residents aged 13 years or over and run through to 5th August. Head on over to the official Weet-Bix website for more information.
