We can all think of Aussie albums that have attained the coveted status of being named a ‘classic’.

There are albums that are recognised immediately for redefining music, leaving a lasting legacy that sees them being discussed and appreciated for generations.

Others may be unappreciated in their time, eventually becoming respected as seminal works as they’re revisited over the decades.

In other cases, an album may set the world on fire upon release, receiving accolades and huge sales in equal measure – only to disappear completely from the ‘classic’ conversation down the track.

We’re not saying these are bad albums, deserving of being shunned – quite the opposite, in fact. This is a list of albums that were hugely successful and widely adored back in the day, but are now mostly overlooked when thinking about classic Aussie records.
