Sydney’s Lord Gladstone recently announced an event that any sensible Australian should be able to get behind. On Sunday, 17th July, the beloved Sydney venue will host their first ever ‘F**k Pauline Hanson Day‘.

“I THINK WE SPEAK FOR A LARGE MAJORITY WHEN WE SAY: F*CK PAULINE HANSON,” they write. They’re inviting everyone down to the venue to “talk politics or just be in the presence of like minded people” who aren’t Pauline fans.

However, as Music Feeds reports, the announcement has led to some backlash from so-called patriots, who’ve been leaving defamatory reviews of the pub on their Facebook page, criticising owners for their apparent left-wing agenda.

Speaking to Music Feeds, a spokesperson for The Lord Gladstone said the Chippendale venue “isn’t being blasé about some aggressive responses” it’s received to its ‘Fuck Pauline Hanson Day’ event, such as:

“As per usual, we will have security and have liaised with local authorities. But this has and always will be a peacefully focused event,” the spokesperson said. “I mean, it’s a pub after all.”

If you’re thinking of heading down on Sunday, you can check out more info via the official Facebook event page here. There’ll be DJ sets, snack packs, $10 Bloody Paulines, and other Hanson-themed beverages.
