After a long-five-and-a-half-year wait, one of Australia’s best loved and most critically acclaimed bands, Cog, finally returned from hiatus earlier this month, quickly assuring fans that the boys haven’t lost any of their spark.

Following 12 years of virtually non-stop touring, Cog finally took a break five years ago, giving the band some time to reflect on a career that yielded multiple EPs, singles, and DVDs, as well as two beloved studio albums.

The band’s last album was 2008’s Sharing Space and there was no talk of new material surrounding the tour, until now that is. According to The Music, the Sydney progressive outfit may have an album on the way.

According to a reviewer who attended the band’s show at Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Saturday night, towards the end of their performance, Cog frontman Flynn Gower told the crowd, “…so we’re going to try and release a new album soon”.

Unfortunately, no further details were offered, but Gower’s words seem to suggest that the band hope to release the album this year, which easily puts it towards the top of our list of eagerly anticipated releases still to come in 2016.
