Just when you thought BIGSOUND 2016 couldn’t get much bigger, organisers have gone and added Sonic Youth co-founder and alternative music legend Kim Gordon and Stones Throw luminaries Peanut Butter Wolf and J Rocc to their speakers lineup.

As one of the leading forces behind proto-grunge pioneers Sonic Youth, Kim Gordon is considered one of the most influential musicians in alternative music. Having spent three decades immersed in the worlds of music, art, and literature, her keynote is not one to miss.

Meanwhile, Peanut Butter Wolf is the founder of one of the most critically hailed, influential, and consistently boundary-pushing record labels in any genre. The California-based Stones Throw has influenced everybody from Questlove to Kanye West.

Peanut Butter Wolf will be joined by longtime label-mate J Rocc to celebrate 20 years of Stones Throw by delivering a keynote in which the two reflect on the past two decades of the label and all that it’s achieved in that time.

“It is an absolute honour to welcome these iconic cultural figures to BIGSOUND this year. Kim Gordon has been on our dream list of speakers for years and we’re so excited to hear from such an influential, challenging and still-relevant figure in music and art,” said co-programmer Nick O’Byrne.

“Also on that dream-list has been one of the most important labels in the history of hip hop, Stones Throw. We can’t wait to hear founder Peanut Butter Wolf and long standing label mate J Rocc reflect on the music and people who have made it so seminal.”

Joining them will be all of the previously announced speakers and industry figures, including keynotes from Jaddan Comerford (UNIFIED) and A.B. Original (Briggs & Trials). Check below for all dates and details.
