NOFX are set to return with their 13th studio effort, entitled First Ditch Effort. The album is set to drop 7th October and the band have already shared the first single to be taken from the LP, ‘Six Years on Dope’.

As Noisey points out, the single is a a rather mournful meditation about the band’s drug years. “I was a human trash can, shortening my lifespan“, Fat Mike sings, along with lines like, “I was a moron bro with impetigo“.

The tune is pretty explicit about band members’ past substance abuse issues. Fat Mike, who recently spent time in a detox facility to recover from drug and alcohol abuse, has been vocal about his own issues, for instance in NOFX’s Backstage Passport show.

You can check out the track below. It’s a hard-hitting, hook-y punk rock number with all the hallmarks we’ve come to expect from the band and is a sure sign that First Ditch Effort will be another beloved addition to the NOFX discography.
