Whilst Adele and Beyonce may have cleaned up in the recently announced MTV Video Music Award nominations, there’s still a good dose of Australiana in there with Tame Impala, Sia, and Troye Sivan scoring nods.

Tame Impala’s psychedelic, absurdist, hilarious, and at-times disturbing clip for ‘The Less I Know The Better’ has been nominated for Best Direction whilst Sivan scored a nod for Breakthrough Long Form Video.

Meanwhile, Sia has been nominated for Best Female Video for her clip for ‘Cheap Thrills’. As we recently reported, ‘Cheap Thrills’ just hit the top of the Billboard singles chart in the US, officially writing Sia into the history books.

As Billboard reports, Beyonce leads the nominations with a career high of 11 for her universally hailed visual album Lemonade, whilst Adele managed to score eight for the clips accompanying 25.

The awards ceremony itself is set to air 28th August from New York’s Madison Square Garden and Kanye West is nominated, so it’s basically a countdown to see what stunt he decides to go and pull this year.
