Melbourne’s NGV has just become an ideal place to catch live music every Friday night with the introduction of a new weekly event: ‘Friday Nights at NGV’.

Each Friday night from 6-10pm the NGV will host a curated selection of talented Australian artists, along with an array of food, drink, art and inspiration.

Tickets and more information can be found at the NGV’s website, and we’ll be letting you know who’s playing each month so you don’t miss out.

Aug 5: Jen Cloher

Jen will be joined by Paris-based Jazz Manouche/French style Jazz artist Gypsy Jam, and a short talk on the Degas exhibition by Monash University’s Brian Nelson.

Aug 12: The Painted Ladies

It’s not unusual to find painted ladies in a gallery, but generally they aren’t a ragged band of musicians. The Painted Ladies is a project by Halfway member Luke Peacock, started as a tribute to Indigenous icon Vic Simms, who will now be joining them onstage at NGV for a special performance. They’ll be supported by Gypsy Jam, and a short talk by University of Melbourne’s Peter McPhee.
