The Smiths’ frontman and music’s best known vegetarian, Morrissey, has teamed up with PETA to preach his message by way of a video game.

Taking inspiration from the arcade games of the era in which his fame was cemented, Morrissey and PETA today released This Beautiful Creature Must Die, an aesthetically-accurate arcade game inspired by The Smiths’ classic ‘Meat Is Murder’.

Set to an 8-bit version of ‘Meat Is Murder’, the game implores you to click on the small chickens, pigs, turkeys, and cows in order to save them from the impending blades of the slaughterhouse. Failure to do so will be met with the phrase ‘Death for no reason’, which seems a little too subtle, even for PETA.

As Consequence Of Sound reports, PETA believes the game has the ability to change points of view. “After mastering the game, players can save animals and the Earth in real life by going vegan,” a press release stated. Even Morrissey believes that this could be the start of something big. “This game is the biggest social crusade of all,” he stated, “as we safeguard the weak and helpless from violent human aggression. You don’t get that from Pokémon Go.”

If you’re willing to take on the responsibilities thrust upon you by Morrissey, feel free to play the game below.
