You know Matt Okine as an award-winning comedian and a presenter on triple j’s beloved breakfast show, but the noted hip-hop head is also something of an emcee himself and he’s just unveiled the first track from an in-the-works EP.

Entitled ‘Fade (Nothing At All)’, the sombre track comes courtesy of Boilermakers, a project Okine’s quietly been working on for some time. As Pedestrian.tv reports, Okine kept the project quiet for fear of it being treated as a joke.

“I’ve always held back a bit because of the ‘comedy’ thing,” he told the site. “People aren’t gonna expect much, and I’m cool with that because this is the first time I’ve taken it seriously too.”

“It’s the first building block towards building an EP,” Okine revealed. Considering Okine’s favourite albums, which he kindly shared with Tone Deaf last year, this EP will definitely have some healthy influences.

You can check out ‘Fade (Nothing At All)’ below. As Pedestrian.tv notes, the tune features production from Melbourne-based beat-maker C1 Beats, best known for his work with Adelaide emcee Allday.
