It looks as though LCD Soundsystem’s eagerly anticipated Australian tour has been cancelled before it was even announced. The band’s (now cancelled) Aussie tour plans were revealed via a statement from a Hong Kong music festival.

As Music Feeds reports, a statement from the organisers of Hong Kong’s Clockenflap Festival confirmed the cancellation of their “upcoming Asian & Australian tour”, which was allegedly set to take place at the end of this year.

“LCD Soundsystem have had to cancel their upcoming Asian & Australian tour at the end of the year, now including their appearance at Clockenflap 2016,” the now amended statement read, citing “studio scheduling conflicts related to their new album”.

“We are as disappointed as you are with this news. We wish them all the best with their recording and look forward to welcoming them to Hong Kong at another time.” An end-of-year tour would have placed them in contention to headline several high-profile festivals.

In fact, rumours were swirling at one point that James Murphy and his reformed crew were set to headline the upcoming Falls Festival, but it looks as though the band’s studio plans have gone and put the kibosh on that.

LCD Soundsystem’s reformation was announced back in January after they were confirmed as part of this year’s Coachella lineup. Murphy later confirmed the band would be recording a new album and playing shows “all over”.
