It’s not exactly out of character for Daft Punk to disappear following the release of an album. Their last release was the acclaimed Random Access Memories and while we all waited for another epic Alive tour, it never eventuated.

We all simply resigned ourselves to another five or so years without any new Daft Punk, but it now appears as though the French robots have reactivated and are set to hit the studio to work with Canadian hit-maker The Weeknd.

As Your EDM reports, Republic Records executive VP/head of urban A&R Wendy Goldstein recently spoke to Billboard and let slip that she was putting together a studio session involving The Weeknd and the legendary French house duo.

“Actually, we have a session coming up in two days with The Weeknd and Daft Punk. I’m a massive Daft Punk fan, and this is the first time that I’ve actually been involved with an artist who’s going to go and work with them,” she said.

Goldstein makes the earth-shattering aside at about 2:39 in the video below. Meanwhile, The Weeknd himself recently took to Facebook to share a photo apparently taken inside a recording studio, depicting two Daft Punk action figures sitting on a speaker.
