Pearl Jam and Alice In Chains are among the giants of the early ’90s grunge movement, alongside bangs like Nirvana, Mudhoney, and Soundgarden, and Eddie Vedder and co recently paid tribute to AIC’s late frontman Layne Staley.

Staley passed away in 2002 following a prolonged battle with drug addiction and Vedder decided to dedicate Pearl Jam’s ‘Man of the Hour’ during a recent performance that took place on what would’ve been Staley’s 49th birthday.

As Consequence of Sound reports, Pearl Jam recently performed a two-night residency at Chicago’s Wrigley Field, during which they performed a bunch of covers, including of Pink Floyd’s ‘Comfortably Numb’ and Hunters & Collectors’ ‘Throw Your Arms Around Me’.

In addition to the Staley tribute, they also took a moment to pay tribute to The Tragically Hip frontman Gord Downie, who was recently diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. The Tragically Hip were playing their final show in Ontario that same night.
