RKDA and Aeora are two of the upstart electronic outfits currently surging out of Melbourne, each making their own shimmering blend of dark electro pop.

Both with records out or on the way – Aeora her debut EP Alt. and RKDA their EP CS – the Riot Expert Records labelmates teamed up for an East Coast co-headline tour, and have put together a recap for us of tour life for fledgling electro bands.

You’ll be able to catch RKDA launching their EP Thursday September 1 at Melbourne’s Hugs&Kisses, supported by Huntly and Wise Child.

On Tour With RKDA And Aeora

Aeora and Guy flew to Sydney while the rest of us drove. This was at one of our pit stops. Stretching our legs and taking some snaps while Gemma (our manager) was sending emails. She’s all about that business.

We picked Guy from the train and took an elevator selfie. Can you guess which is the real us?

Breakfast club. Loving life. We got to stay at a really nice place that had a kitchen so we cooked up some food and had some muffins before we started the day.

Ana played chief photographer on this trip ;-)

We went off to where Aeora was staying to hang out, have a little jam and do a bit of shopping.

With some goodies purchased we’re ready for our first interstate show. We booked a maxi to load all the gear but it never showed. DAMN CABS! So we ended up having to get an Uber. Guy’s Uber got lost :-/. He finally got there and the whole night went smooth! First show down!!!

Brissy here we come. Rugged up for the cold Melbourne morning we were not prepared for the hot weather that was about to hit us in Brisbane!!! Poor Aeora was wearing thermals (BAD MOVE)

Ana and Guy having chinwags while Gemma slept, Aeora read Harry Potter and I did uni work on the plane.

Guy was in charge of the trolley. I’m not sure why but we went on the travelator and he got stuck. He wasn’t impressed with me taking photos of him.

10

Gemma dropped us to where we were staying and we all just sort of crashed. Guy blended into the couch with all the geometric patterns. We didn’t hear much from Guy after he planted himself on the couch.

Ana was reminiscing about when she first moved out of home and moved to Brisbane. Coincidentally we were staying a couple of houses up from where she first ever lived. The place has since had apartments added to it but the house was still the same.

12

Aeora all ready to go for the night. She had a smile ear to ear thanks to all the dog images people were sharing with her. The way to Aeora’s heart is through dogs.

Aeora did her thang after the wonderful Post-Dusk. Joining her part way through was Bae (Aeora’s BF). The pair make a beautiful duo and it’s always so nice to see them do their thang.

It was so fun being able to show our old Uni friends and our family what we have been up to since moving to Melbourne and starting RKDA. We got asked to do an encore but we had no more songs to play. We can’t wait to play interstate again!
