Fans have been asking Lorde for a while if and when she’ll be back with new music, but now she has answered, in a typically Lorde manner.
Responding to a fan on Instagram who asked Lorde “Do you think we will ever get another album or should we just give up on you as an artist,” she’s hit back, pulling no punches when it comes to how she feels about it all.
“Give up on me if you want to,” she said, “I’m an artist, I write a record when I have enough special stories to tell, and it’s all me, every melody every lyric, not some team who just start the machine up every eighteen months like clockwork.”
While most fans might have been a bit shocked by Lorde’s bluntness, she sweetened the deal by giving us an update on album #2. “The record is written,” she wrote, “we’re in the production stages now. I’ve worked like a dog for a year making this thing great for you guys.”
While it has been a little while between drinks for Lorde, she’s not left our minds just yet. With her work on The Hunger Games soundtrack, being remixed by Flume, and her collaboration with Disclosure all fresh in our memories.
