Flume has revealed plans to release a series of companion EPs to bookend the release of his sophomore album, the acclaimed and wildly successful Skin. According to the Aussie EDM hero, the EPs will be available on vinyl.

“I’ve been overwhelmed by the support you guys have shown for Skin over the past few months and I wanted to share some more music that was written around the same time,” the Sydney producer wrote via Facebook.

“The first Skin Companion EP is a 12″ of songs we are releasing in November. It will be available on vinyl at lots of great indie record stores around the world – Rough Trade, Phonica, Turntable Lab, Oye, Amoeba, Juno, Boomkat, Red Eye and many more.”

Flume even went ahead and gave us a short snippet of what we can expect from the first Skin Companion EP. According to triple j, the female vocalist you hear in the clip is none other than Izzi Manfredi of The Preatures.

Skin hasn’t even been out for a year but already Flume is making plans for his follow-up. Speaking recently to In The Mix, Flume has revealed he wants to work on his upcoming album by grabbing his surfboard and driving a van around national forests and beaches.

“Now that I’ve put Skin out, I’m like… awesome! I’ve done my big, grandiose, clean record, with lots of big sawtooth sounds,” he told In The Mix.

“Now I’m kind of bored of it, and I want to do lots of more sample-based stuff, like actual world sounds. So, like, maybe a vocal that’s been recorded and make it into a chord.”

“I kinda want to go a little more lo-fi, I guess. But that’s how it works – you get excited about one thing, then you go to the opposite for a bit.”
