Tiny Little Houses won us over completely with their debut EP You Tore Out My Heart, and are back with a new track, ‘Song Despite Apathy’, recorded in South Park Studio.

To give us a bit of insight into how the track and upcoming EP Snow Globe came together, the boys have let us inside what looks like a damn comfy creative space, as told by lead singer Caleb Karvountzis and photographer Shaad D’Souza.

‘Song Despite Apathy’ dropped yesterday, while Snow Globe is out October 7 through Ivy League Records. You’ll be able to hear some new tracks when TLH hit the BIGSOUND stage next week for a set we’d highly recommend getting down to.

Inside The Studio

This is Sound Park Studio, our beloved studio where we have recorded every TLH track. It’s messy like our bedrooms so it never feels like you’re wasting money being in there, and you can just relax and take your time. It’s also home to the crustiest bins, tea cups and smells like Steven’s vape, but it also has the world’s best-sounding tambourine.

Some of the many mics available in the studio. Usually we record one track of my main vocal with a good quality studio mic and the the other takes are all done on either little field mics or sometimes through headphones.

Clancy and Sean always eating. What’s up with that? Hungry bois.

Sean and Al tracking with Clancy and Caleb out of view. We always record our tracks live a bunch of times until our producer Steven feels like we got the best take. Then we add any touches on top. It’s the most organic approach and usually captures a vibe that is hard to replicate when tracking individually. Little mistakes slip through but thats what gives the songs charm we think.

Me singing in my little makeshift walled-off vocal booth.

Steven slaving over his desk. His dog George was not available to come into the studio on this day so he is visibly more depressed.

Listening to the rough recordings of the EP tracks. When this shot we thought we were making an album but four of these tracks went on this new EP. We recorded ‘Song Despite Apathy’ and a cover in June over a weekend and ‘Snow Globe’ was born.

Hey this is the the external view of Soundpark? You would never guess such an incredible establishment existed inside this derelict asbestos roofed purple coloured warehouse.

Having a breather outside.. this was shot in January so it was beautiful weather, nice to escape the sweatbox in the studio.
