Crowded House are set to reunite for their induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame in November. The band will also be celebrating 30 years since unveiling their debut album, which coincides with the ARIA Awards’ 30th anniversary.
After releasing their self-titled debut, Crowded House went on to sell more than two million albums, seeing their albums go platinum more than 30 times, including five Number 1s and 17 singles in the top 50 in Australia.
They’ve won a total of 13 ARIA Awards and have been nominated for 36, and their iconic Farewell To The World concert, which took place on the steps of the Sydney Opera House in 1996, saw them playing to more than 100,000 fans.
“Since our formation in Melbourne and our first album release in 1986 we have enjoyed a special relationship with Australia, one that has strengthened and endured over the years,” said members Neil Finn and Nick Seymour in a statement.
“We feel truly blessed that our songs have become a valued part of peoples lives across generations. As a result, our affinity with fans and the music community here is unique and one we hold very close. We are delighted and honoured to accept the invitation to be inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame.”
Meanwhile, News Corp reports that the band are expected to reunite and perform at the ARIA Awards ceremony, which takes place at The Star in Sydney on 23rd November, almost 20 years to the date of their Farewell To The World concert.
