‘Perfect Illusion’, the eagerly awaited collaboration between pop superstar Lady Gaga and Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker was finally unveiled last week and Gaga has now spoken about the esteem in which she holds the Aussie muso.

Speaking recently to the BBC, Gaga revealed some of the other collaborators on her upcoming new album, including Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme and Florence Welch, and explained the story behind the creation of ‘Perfect Illusion’.

“She’s really to me if not the best but one of the greatest vocalists in the world. She’s incredible,” said Gaga of Welch. “I would say the same about the musicianship of Beck, of Father John (Misty), Kevin Parker and Mark Ronson.”

“Kevin Parker flew over from Australia and he came up with this idea that the beginning of the song was called ‘Illusion’,” Gaga told Radio 1, via NME. Parker worked on the track with Gaga, previous collaborator Mark Ronson, and producer BloodPop.

“We stripped everything away. I sat at the piano, Kevin was on the guitar and Mark was at the bass and we just played through it and I worked on a typewriter and we would bounce new lyrics back and forth,” she said.

“What was important to me was it wasn’t just a song about any illusion but one we can all relate to. That’s how we came up with the title Perfect. But I have to hand it to Kevin he is a real musical genius.”

No doubt many Australian fans agree with Gaga’s opinion. The pop songstress appeared onstage with Tame Impala last month at FYF Fest to perform the band’s set closer ‘New Person, Same Old Mistakes’, shortly after ‘Perfect Illusion’ was announced.
