The finalists for the 2016 Melbourne Music Bank have been announced and it’s once again another selection of some of the finest up-and-coming talent Melbourne has to offer, spanning the genre gamut from hip-hop to rock and folk.

The finalists are: Sal Wonder from Brunswick, Anna Oliphant Wright from Lake Gardens, Ayyoob Meeragani from Fawkner, B Cardamone from Richmond, Batz from Collingwood, Birdhouse from Caulfield, BLOOM from McCrae, HeavyHeads from Balaclava, James Franklin from Dandenong, Sienna Wild from South Melbourne, Tempus Sun from Moonee Ponds, and Zii Music from Fawkner.

These 12 names were chosen from a record 540 submissions. “We’re thrilled with the record number of submissions this year,” said Bank of Melbourne’s Head of Brand and Marketing Jac Phillips.

“It confirms what we’ve known all along: that there’s an incredible amount of musical talent all over Victoria. We love supporting the arts and uncovering the next star to grace the Hamer Hall stage.”

The public can now vote for their favourite entries until 9th October. The four entries with the most votes will perform at a finale ceremony at Melbourne’s iconic Hamer Hall on 25th October. A panel of industry experts will decide the winner.

Voters can win prizes, including double passes to this year’s Beyond the Valley festival and Pandora subscriptions. You can find your favourite finalist and vote via the official Melbourne Music Bank website here.

The winner of this year’s Melbourne Music Bank will be handed the keys to the kingdom, with the prize pack consisting of four days of recording at Melbourne’s The Studios In The City to record, mix and master an EP.

They’ll also get two film clips, album artwork, printed CDs, styling, media training, and a photoshoot for the release. The winner also receives management and mentoring by Matt O’Connor, publicity by On The Map PR, radio plugging by Varrasso PR, and gig bookings by 123 Agency.
