Marilyn Manson says his forthcoming new album, SAY10, will please fans of his classic work on albums such as Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Albums – the two records that made him one of the most talked about musicians of the ’90s and ’00s.

“It did bring back memories of creating Antichrist Superstar, which, strangely enough, October is the 20th anniversary of,” he told Rolling Stone. According to Manson, his work on the TV show Salem influenced the creation of the new LP.

“I found the supernatural element of the show to be very authentic when I lived in New Orleans: the hoodoo, voodoo, all the Santeria, it was all very much a part of my surroundings when I was making the music I made down there. Maybe that kickstarted my mojo into making a new album.”

“It’s pretty violent in its nature for some reason,” he added. “And it’s not emotional in the same way. It’s got a chip on its shoulder. I enjoyed doing it. I can’t wait for people to hear it. I think they’re going to be quite surprised.”

Due for release February 2017, Manson said the few people who have heard the new songs said “it reminded them of their favourite parts of Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals – but with a new, different approach”.

Earlier this year the singer teased us with a taster to SAY10 during an interview with Alternative Press, discussing the album title. “Its not even a pun. It’s worse than a pun. It’s wordplay,” he said.

Currently, they’re putting the finishing touches on the record. But Manson says fans of the gothier material of the last record will be surprised with what they hear on SAY10. Oh, and he said the album is due for release on Valentine’s Day.
