“Hey, it’s Gaga… yeah, I’m just driving through the desert in my four-by-four. Hold on, I can’t hear you, the reception is really bad out here… hold on, is that Kevin Parker? Can I call you back? I have a score to settle.”

At least, that’s what we imagine the unwritten dialogue to Lady Gaga’s new music video for ‘Perfect Illusion’, her collaboration with Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, QOTSA’s Josh Homme, Mark Ronson, and BloodPop would sound like.

The clip, shot in a stomach-churning cinéma vérité style (seriously, if you felt sick during Cloverfield maybe sit this one out), mainly involves Gaga swinging her mic like a lasso in front of a crowd in the desert and apparently trying to kill Parker.

Sure, she’d have you believe she’s just overcome with the power of the music, but we know what’s really happening here. Just look at the manic psychopathy in Gaga’s eyes as she ‘playfully’ chokes him and tries to tear his hair out. She’s going full Mark David Chapman all over him.
