It was just last month that The Smith Street Band packed up their bags and departed Footscray to set up camp in a studio and begin work on a new record. Well, they’ve now finished the sessions and you can even hear a very small snippet of new music.

“We spent the last few weeks recording new music in a wildly beautiful location,” the homegrown punk rockers recently wrote via Facebook. “Here’s the very last thing we did. We’re very proud of it and can’t wait to share some of it with you soon.”

Details on the next Smith Street record are scant, but in an interview with Medium earlier this year, the band revealed that “11 new songs” have been written since Throw Me In The River, the band’s acclaimed third album, was released two years ago.

Some of the songs have apparently made their way into the band’s live set and their soundcheck, so if you’ve checked out a Smith Street show in the last 12 months or so, you may have caught a glimpse of their fourth full-length album.
