Just a few days ago, news broke that Violent Soho have released their own beer by partnering up with Byron Bay brewery Stone & Wood, now we know what exactly went into the process.

With scads of bands releasing their own beersBroadsheet stepped up and asked why exactly bands like DZ Deathrays, You Am I, and Frenzal Rhomb have been taking this route, and the level of their involvement.

Speaking with the publication, lead guitarist James Tidswell opened up about the process that the group went into when it came to brewing their own amber fluid. “We chose the hops and actually sat down and went through an exhausting tasting process,” he said.

The whole tasting process was undertaken so their partner brewery, Stone & Wood, “could work out what we did and didn’t like.” “It was tough, but somehow we managed,” he joked.

It wasn’t an easy process, though. “You have no idea how much physical labour goes into the brewing process,” said James.

“We had to manage temperature, make sure things didn’t get overcooked. The process took about four hours.” If you’re looking for more proof that Violent Soho are indeed one of Australia’s hardest working bands, look no further than this.

While we aren’t sure yet if there are plans for a ‘Violent Soda’ in the works, you can be sure that the boys would be pretty hands on in that department too if it ever eventuates.
