Earlier this year King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard announced their plans to release four full-length studio albums next year – a Herculean feat for any band. But as we’ve firmly established, King Gizzard aren’t your average band.

Just weeks after confirming they’ve finished recording their ninth album — the as-yet untitled follow-up to this year’s Nonagon Infinity — the band have taken to Instagram to announce they’ve begun work on album number 10.

“Making our 10th album in the studio we built,” the band wrote, alongside a photo of them busy in the studio. Yep, King Gizz are already working on their 10th album, months after releasing their eighth and before they’ve even announced their ninth.

Then again, if they really want to release four albums in 2017, they don’t have a whole lot of time to sit around Gizz HQ, admiring Jason Galea’s artwork. They’ve also got a string of tour dates with Gizzfest 2016 on the horizon.

“We’re actually working on four separate projects at the moment, which hopefully we can release next year sometime,” Gizzard frontman Stu Mackenzie told the folks over at triple j earlier this year.

“Four Gizzard albums, I guess next year, that’s the idea,” drummer Eric Moore added. “Stu’s been chipping away at this record that we’ve tracked all the music for and it’s just the stage of putting together a few overdubs and get it mixed.”

According to Mackenzie, “They’re all kind of distinct little ideas that we’ve been toying with for a little while.” Meanwhile, the eagerly anticipated Nonagon Infinity album movie, set to drop towards the end of the year, is still in the works.
