The Strokes are back in the studio and working on a follow-up to 2013’s Comedown Machine, guitarist Nick Valensi has confirmed. Valensi is currently busying himself with side-project CRX, whose debut album was produced by QOTSA frontman Josh Homme.

Valensi, currently on the promotional circuit for CRX, recently spoke to DIY and spilled the news. Naturally, the guitarist isn’t sure of a release date, but did confirm there will be a full-length sequel to their Future Present Past EP.

“We are slowly but surely working on an album,” he said, via Consequence of Sound. “I don’t know when it’s going to be released, we’re kind of just in writing sessions. We’re writing. I’m actually in New York at the moment, at a studio in New York for that.”

Of course, we must remind ourselves of the New York indie legends’ notoriously slow turnaround. There was a full three years between Comedown Machine and Future Present Past, an EP which contained just three original songs.
