Brissie’s favourite sons The Belligerents are currently midway through their national tour in support of their ripping new single ‘Caroline’, which kicked off with an appearance at Yours & Owls festival and sees them heading to the Gold Coast tonight, with Adelaide, Perth and Brissy to follow.
With half of the tour under their belts, we thought we’d check in with the quintet of psych rockers to see how the tour was treating them – and by all accounts, it’s pretty glamorous!
From serene country clubs to the friendliest dog owners around, here’s the heady life on the road with The Belligerents.
On Tour With The Belligerents
First stop Yours and Owls festy in Wollongong. Had a hoot, went for a dip, scared some locals pre-set to get in the vibe. Our drummer Staggy on the right exhibits a Speedo, the traditional male beachwear of Australia. Stag has done the right thing here.
All this talk of the rock’n’roll lifestyle gets tiring. After our show at Yours & Owls, it’s all about the games and casual hangs. Nobody was really counting, but if they were, they’d know that Stag won by a mile.

Jim made a new friend when we got to Launceston ahead of our first ever headline show there. The doggy’s owners seemed really keen to get to know Jim, too! We asked them if they’d like to come to the show but I think they were busy or something.
Here you can see Jim getting into the zone with a cuppa before sound check. We were lucky enough to stay at a country club just near the venue – the serenity was exactly what we needed before another weekend of big shows!
We shot a video for our latest single ‘Caroline’ with our new friend Brian before the Melbourne show. Lots of smoke & mirrors – just the way we like it.
Things got wild at the Melbourne show. Everyone was struggling to back it up and soundcheck took longer than ever – energy levels low. Here Jim sums it all up backstage.
