Following on from this morning’s Like A Version — a Nick Cave cover courtesy of Emma Louise which gave us goosebumps — the news dropped that Mansfield’s favourite sons, Violent Soho, would be hitting the triple j studios next week to lay down their own Like A Version cover.

The boys haven’t yet had the opportunity to lay down a Like A Version, but they’ve been covered quite a few times themselves. Most recently, Modern Baseball laid down a gutsy cover of ‘Dope Calypso’, which was a very faithful rendering of the Hungry Ghost number.

Northeast Party House famously took on the band’s signature tune, ‘Covered In Chrome’, and Perth’s Tired Lion absolutely blew us away with their alt-rock mash-up, which pitted Soho’s ‘Saramona Said’ against the classic Smashing Pumpkins tune ‘1979’.

If you’re not in the know, Like A Version gets broadcast every Friday morning and you’ll always find us sharing our thoughts right here, so keep your ears and eyes open. Here’s hoping they cover a fellow Aussie artist.

Not too long ago we ran through a few of our favourite Like A Version covers of the year so far, including Sarah Blasko’s incredible David Bowie cover, Guy Sebastian linking up with Paces, and Hey Geronimo mashing up Courtney Barnett and Regurgitator.
