Fledgling Sydney rockers Apollo Hooks have announced their arrival loud and clear with raucous ‘Glass Of Gold’, the first single taken from the band’s upcoming debut record, Whatever You Do, Don’t.

“Glass of Gold is about staying sane in a superficial world or depending how you look at it, a song about beer,” says singer Dylan Mitchell. “Either way, it’s about enjoying the better things in life, without all the bullshit.” That optimism is reflected in the track’s upbeat singalong nature, firmly centred around Dylan’s vox, which settle somewhere in the territory of Jet’s Nic Cester as ‘Glass Of Gold’ roars to its conclusion. The video is just as exuberant, the band’s beautifully-shot performance eventually interrupted by a colourful, slow-motion hail.

Whatever You Do, Don’t is out October 28, and will be launched with a free live show at Frankie’s Pizza, Sydney on Sunday November 13. It all kicks off at 6pm, with Verticoli (TAS), My Echo (VIC) and The Red Wine Roses in support.
