WOMADelaide 2017 have announced their first round of acts, who will be helping punters celebrate the splendour and glory of world music over the weekend of 10th – 13th March 2017 in Adelaide’s scenic Botanic park.

Topping the announcement are none other than UK ska icons The Specials, who’ll be helping the crowd get down with their discography of timeless hits, including anthems like ‘Ghost Town’, ‘A Message to You Rudy’, and ‘Do Nothing’.

Joining them will be Grammy-nominated Brazilian superstar Bebel Gilberto, the return of France’s Cie Carabosse, The Philip Glass Ensemble performing KOYAANISQATSI LIVE – Life out of Balance, and more.

“It seems like yesterday but in the 25 years since 1992, WOMADelaide has brought together a diversity of artists and audiences and evolved into a completely immersive, welcoming and accessible cultural experience where art matters and is celebrated,” said director Ian Scobie.

“It truly has become ‘the world’s festival’, all within one park, over a glorious long weekend. Over that time we have been fortunate to be able to share some unforgettable musical memories with literally hundreds of thousands of festivalgoers who have helped make the event an important part of Adelaide and the nation’s cultural life.”
