One of our favourite bands in Melbourne’s guitar scene for a long time now, The Ocean Party have just sent us their new video for ‘Restless’, the title track taken from their recent album.
‘Restless’ is just a gorgeous track; beginning with a dark, resonant monologue touching on “oceans of depression”, the sombre tone is soon washed away by decidedly brighter piano melodies and soothing vox. Brief interjections of horns go even further towards smoothing over rattled nerves, despite the undercurrent of melancholy, accentuated by a clip steeped in nostalgia.
You’ll be able to experience the record live when The Ocean Party launch it at The Tote on Saturday November 12, with a great supporting cast in Summer Flake, Big White and Jade Imagine. Restless is out now through Spunk.
