ARIA Award winner Ash Grunwald is set to headline a night of entertainment to support Victorian firefighters next month. Melbourne’s Max Watt’s will host a night of live music to raise awareness for local firefighters suffering from PTSD, depression, and suicidal thoughts.

The Let Me Know Suicide Prevention Fundraiser has been organised by a group of Melbourne firefighters who are also hoping to raise $50,000 for a new mental health app, as well as honouring the memory of late Station Officer Adrian Newton.

Newton was one of the primary organisers of the event before he was killed in a tragic motorcycle accident in Bali earlier this year. His friends have rallied and ensured that Newton’s vision of a mental health app for firefighters and other emergency service workers to fruition.

“This event is an opportunity for us to recognise vital but emotionally straining work firefighters and other emergency workers undertake, while raising funds to develop an app that will help them manage their mental health and ask for help,” said Leading Firefighter Nathaniel O’Brien.

“We have worked hard to get a great line up for the night and we’d like to thank all the entertainers and businesses that are assisting us in making Newtz dream come true.” Tickets are on sale now and all proceeds will go towards the fundraising total.
