Birds of Tokyo are gearing up to release their eagerly anticipated new album, Brace, on Friday, 4th November, and they’ve now unveiled an absolutely epic, thought-provoking new music video to herald its release.

The clip for the single ‘Empire’ was directed by filmmaker Sean Vandenberg, who worked with the band on their videos for ‘Brace’ and Harlequins. Its rapid-fire editing takes us through human history from WW2 to the present day.

“When we were writing and recording we kept talking about how we wanted to make a really dark and intense rock record that would be great to play live,” said frontman Ian Kenny, whose band has dominated commercial radio over the past five years.

However, Brace is an entirely different beast. Whilst Birds of Tokyo certainly haven’t turned their backs on smash singles like ‘Plans’, ‘Wild At Heart’, ‘Lanterns’, ‘This Fire’, and ‘Anchor’, Brace is a darker, more meditative record.

The 10-track album was produced in collaboration with Canadian David Bottrill, who’s manned the boards for the likes of Tool, Muse, and Silverchair. The band will celebrate the new album with a national tour, which kicks off next month.
