The Tapes are an emerging electronic pop duo made up of Sydneysiders Micky Kojak and Andrew Grant (of La Mar), about to drop their self-titled debut EP on November 11 through Create/Control imprint Nook Nook Records – but we’ve got a sneak peek.

Having clocked up a couple of million streams with their first two singles, the EP delivers on that earlier promise with a tight assortment of sumptuous electro vibes, lazing about with husky falsettos but driven along by insistent boom-bap percussion.

With a live show that features members of World Champion, The Tapes launch the EP tomorrow at Sydney’s Civic Underground, supported by local dance duo Pluural, “sample-collage fiend” David Couso, and a host of club DJs. You’ll also be able to catch them playing a set at this year’s Electronic Music Conference, kicking off in Sydney November 28.
