Media pundits are suggesting commercial radio giant Nova is punishing homegrown pop sensations The Veronicas as retaliation for a spat between Jessica Origliasso, one half of the singing duo, and Nova presenter Susie O’Neill.

The Daily Telegraph reports the pair’s latest single, ‘On Your Side’, has been relegated to the late-night slot on the station. According to the outlet, ‘On Your Side’ is only being played between 10pm and 5am.

This is particularly curious seeing as the sisters’ previous single, ‘In My Blood’, hit the top of the ARIA Singles chart, displacing chart monster Drake and receiving high rotation across commercial radio, including on Nova.

According to the Telegraph, Nova insist there’s no bad blood between the station and Origliasso, who hit out at O’Neill, a presenter on Brisbane’s Nova 106.9, over a discussion about shark culling.

The singer slammed the former Olympian, calling her a “f***ing moron” after she made comments in support of shark nets and appeared to condone culling. Origliasso later explained that she had nothing again O’Neill personally but called her “incredibly uninformed”.

“Susie on [Nova 106.9] your opinion on sharks & culling is mindblowingly ignorant & damaging,” the singer wrote on Twitter, via the Brisbane Times. “For the love of god, educate your ignorant self.”

Origliasso later called into the show to apologise to O’Neill but insisted she would not be backing down on her opinions about the controversial practice of shark culling. “I was not at all trying to assault or insult you,” she told O’Neill.
