If you’re wondering where all of Thelma Plum’s Twitter followers went, the Australian singer has run afoul of a hacker, who stole her account as part of an extortion attempt.

“Today has been a big day of losing things,” the singer, who was in New York when her account was stolen, wrote on her official Facebook page.

“Woke up this morn to find my Twitter was hacked so if you see any cheeky posts pls know they aren’t from me, they’re from some meanie in Melbourne that is just pretending to be me.”

At the time of writing, the @ThelmaPlum Twitter account has just 15 followers, down considerably from Plum’s previous follower count, and is no longer verified.

“Aw damn ya girl got hacked by an a**hole who presumably wants to sell me back my Twitter booooo u suck y did u delete my followers tho,” Plum wrote on Twitter.

Plum later tweeted at an account by the name of @thelmaveri, writing, “R u serious? R u actually going to try and sell [the account] back to me lmao keep it.”

Presumably, the hacker infiltrated Plum’s @ThelmaPlum Twitter account, deleting her verified status and followers, as well as her tweet history, and changing the handle to @thelmaveri.

Plum has since launched a new @ThelmaPlum Twitter account, whilst the account @thelmaveri appears to have been deleted.

Several fans of the singer have taken to Twitter to contact the alleged hacker, insisting they return Plum’s account to its rightful owner, including Lindsay ‘The Doctor’ McDougall.

Tone Deaf has reached out to Plum’s management for comment but they do not have a statement at this time, though Tone Deaf understands that Twitter is investigating the matter.
