King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard had a great result at last night’s The Age Music Victoria Awards, taking on all comers to nab the ‘Best Album’ honours for Nonagon Infinity (their eight album in just four years), as well as gongs for ‘Best Band’ and ‘Best Live Band’.

With a haul of three awards, they finished up more decorated than any other act, but copped a bit of a slight today when The Age tried to give them some extra recognition.

In a story run today highlighting the impressive results, the paper unfortunately had a little trouble keeping track of Gizz’s copious members, mislabelling their snap of frontman Stu McKenzie as Ambrose Kenny Smith.

It’s an easy mistake to make, we suppose, considering fellow Gizz member Ambrose is also a frontman in his own right with The Murlocs, but that didn’t stop the label from having a bit of fun at the publication’s expense, with King Gizz and Murlocs managers Flightless Records posted the snafu to their Instagram, adding “Wooo !! always loved this pic of Ambrose”

Commenters were quick to jump in with similar comments, ranging from the cheeky “Fuckin Ambrose always taking credit” to the somewhat snarkier “U all look the same anyways damn hipsters”.

“Damn he got old n ugly quick”, added another, but we get the feeling it’s all in good fun.
