Seattle grunge legends Alice In Chains have unveiled their first new studio recording in three years. Following on from 2013’s The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here, the band have unveiled a cover of legendary Canadian rock band Rush’s tune ‘Tears’.

As you may have heard, a new deluxe reissue of Rush’s seminal 1976 album 2112 is on its way and the bonus disc will feature a start-to-finish cover of the iconic record performaed by a hero’s gallery of modern rock legends, including Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins.

The two Foo Fighters staples recently unveiled a cover of ‘Overture’, the epic opening suite from 2112, and now Alice In Chains have unveiled a somber cover of ‘Tears’, which is reminiscent of the band’s own famous acoustic numbers, such as ‘Nutshell’.

Meanwhile, if you’re looking to get your hands on the deluxe reissue of one of the mighty Rush’s crowning achievement’s, it’s set to drop next month (just in time for Christmas) and will also feature covers from Procupine Tree’s Steven Wilson and more.
