Melbourne songwriter/producer Owen Rabbit has today released his debut EP One, a gorgeous collection of eclectic influences and overlapping textures, pieced together entirely in his Thornbury home.
“One was recorded at my house in Melbourne,” says Owen of the process. “I played all the instruments and did all the production. I wanted to make a record that covered a lot of ground. There’s pop songs, ambience, instrumentals, happy moments, sad moments. I wanted to get as much out of my gear as I could.”
The result is an enthralling collection of music blending everything from slow-burning jazz percussion to sparse experimental electronica, anchored by Owen’s sombre vox – earning him spins on BBC1, triple j and Beats 1 and launching him into international touring.
