Forget the hyperbole, the clickbait, and the BS. There’s simply no other way to put it, Spiderbait’s Ivy and the Big Apples will forever live as a landmark in the canon of Australian rock and roll. It’s the album that made Spiderbait one of the most celebrated homegrown bands in the country and made Hottest 100.

20 years ago, the Bait dropped Ivy and the Big Apples on us, which contained such timeless Australian rock tunas as ‘Horschack Army’, ‘Calypso’, ‘Goosh’, and of course, the immortal and mighty ‘Buy Me A Pony’, which went on to become the first certified Australian-made song to ever top the Hottest 100.

“When ‘Buy Me A Pony’ won the triple J Hottest 100 on Australia Day 1997, making us the first Australian band to do so, I remember feeling not only happy for the band, but happy for us Australian music lovers who now regarded their own just as highly as they rated anything from overseas,” said guitarist Damian Whitty.

Now, the band are set to play the entire rock colossus from start to finish on their upcoming tour. This March, Spiderbait will be hitting some of their favourite venues around the country to play Ivy and the Big Apples in its entirety. So get your tickets and come celebrate Australian rock and roll together.
