PSV Touring, the folks behind De La Soul’s recent Australian tour have lashed out at the hip-hop legends, whose Sydney show last week lasted all of about 15 minutes before the sound was cut and punters were ushered out by police and venue security.

While some fans took to Reddit to voice their displeasure, PSV Touring instead took to Facebook in an attempt to clear the air and let fans and De La Soul know of their dissatisfaction over the turn of events, and absolve themselves of blame.

“Regarding the show at the Greenwood Hotel on Friday, Nobember 18, whilst comments have been made that equipment was incorrect, PSV and our production team kept to the technical rider provided by De La Soul prior to the event.

The promoters went on to explain that the band chose to not attend their sound check, instead, preferring to stay at their hotel.

“That evening drivers were waiting in the foyer of De La Soul’s hotel from 7.30pm, by the band did not set off until after 11pm and arrived 45 minutes before the hotel’s sound restrictions

“PSV and De La Soul were all fully aware of these sound limitations as made clear by The Greenwood Hotel well before the Confirmation of the event”

While PSV had few kind words to say about De La Soul, the promoter stressed that The Greenwood Hotel was by no means at fault.

“Their operating restrictions were well communicated long before the event was confirmed”

The fate of the group’s Melbourne shows were initially left up in their air, but after a lack of communication from De La Soul, PSV had unfortunately no choice but to cancel the Melbourne leg of the tour.

As for the apparent violent behaviour of both police and venue security? “After the gig a man throws a plastic cup with beer in at a cop. The cop then picks him up and throws him headfirst into the concrete floor” said Reddit user 5stef4an.

Neither PSV nor The Greenwood Hotel have chosen to comment as of yet, and at the time of writing De La Soul have yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.
