triple j have announced all of the new voices you’ll be hearing over the airwaves in 2017, including the replacements for their Breakfast slot, previously occupied by the beloved Matt and Alex.

The new Breakfast team will be comprised of Adelaide radio presenters Ben & Liam and journalist Brooke Boney, joined by regular guests ‘Australian Paralympian of the Year’ Dylan Alcott and comedian Gen Fricker.

“Ben & Liam crack me up,” said triple j Content Director Ollie Wards in a statement. “They’re 23 and 20 but come to the radio with thousands of hours on air together and crazy amounts of fun ideas.”

“They’ll be part of a broad new team, including an expanded News role with Brooke Boney, our voice of youth current affairs in the mornings.”

“They’ll also be joined by a wide cast of weekly contributors on the show including sports star Dylan Alcott and comedian Gen Fricker.”

However, fans of newsreader Ruby Jones don’t have to worry. Ruby will continue to bring triple j listeners regular updates on triple j News in the afternoons.

Meanwhile, it’s also time to bid a fond farewell to Lewis McKirdy, who’ll be heading over to the UK after six years at triple j. Comedian and current Weekend Arvos host Gen Fricker will be taking over the Lunch slot for Lewi.

The reigning Queen of Roots n All, Sarah Howells, will also be finishing up after 11 incredible years. Taking over will be lead singer of Melbourn’s Saskwatch, Nkechi Anele, who has been filling in on Roots n All for the past six months.

And after six years as presenter on Weekend Breakfast, Weekend Afternoons and regularly filling in on triple j Breakfast and Drive, Kyran Wheatley is also departing triple j to focus on his comedy career and podcasting.

All of these big changes take effect on Monday, 9th January 2017. Check below for all of the updates to your triple j listening.
