In case you haven’t heard, there’s talk that suggests Rove McManus will be making a return to hosting a late-night TV talk show. The Daily Telegraph reports Rove has partnered with Channel Nine to launch a new talk show in 2017.

The comedian, who recently returned to Australia after a stint in America to take on a role on radio, has reportedly been filming secret tests for the show in the same studio where Nine tapes their Today morning show for weeks now.

The move could be a boon for Aussie music. Fans of Rove Live will know that the show often hosted the latest buzzed-about Aussie acts, including powerhouse performances from the likes of Cut Copy, The Vines, and more.

However, our favourite musical moment on Rove Live is easily an interview the host conducted (or at least tried to) with The Dissociatives, a collaboration between Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns and local EDM legend Paul Mac, back in 2004.

Things were loose AF from the get-go. Johns came out skipping and immediately proceeded to shove a handful of Rove’s famous jelly beans into his mouth, before offering the bowl up to the crowd, and then finally taking his seat and launching into some hilarious banter.

Quite possibly the loosest musician interview on Australian TV since Molly Meldrum futilely attempted to interview Iggy Pop. Check it out below.
