MGMT were originally slated to release new music this year but as Stereogum reported back in September, that didn’t really pan out. After much anticipation, the band took to Twitter to announce they would instead be returning to “re-dominate [our] mind holes in 2017”.

Now the duo have unveiled a very ’80s teaser video via their official Instagram account. The clip, which readers and fans can check out below, is made to look like it’s being played from a LaserDisc and even includes a retro-looking MGMT logo that kind of reminds of Human After All-era Daft Punk.

The duo, who haven’t released new music since their 2013 self-titled album, recently took to Twitter to tell fans they’re itching to release new music and even suggested that their new music may not come in the form of an album, but could be an EP, a move more and more artists are making.

“Wanting badly to get you guys new MGMT music asap,” they wrote on Twitter, before adding, “Ben and I are old school because we always think about “albums” , LPs, but I mean the times have a-changed.” Indeed they have, with both Flume and reportedly Calvin Harris intending to abandon albums.
