Want to know whom the BBC thinks you will be listening to in 2017? Well you’re in luck, the BBC’s Sound of 2017 long list has arrived.

Put together by 170 music industry figures the world over, including, DJs, critics and writers alike. According to NME for an artist to be eligible, they can’t have been a main artist on a UK top 20 tracks or albums prior to October 30th 2016. Perhaps more loosely, cannot be already widely known by the UK general public

A brief glance over the list reveals a rather small list of guitar-based acts, post-punkers, Cabbage make the list alongside rock revivalists The Amazons. Instead the lists leans heavily on rappers, soul singers and ‘wordsmiths’ including, the Dr. Dre-endorsed Anderson Paak, Gravel-voiced soul singer, Rag N Bone Man and pop maven The Japanese House
