We’re pretty massive fans of all things Josh Homme, so we were as excited as his audience no doubt were to see the Queens Of The Stone Age frontman perform an as-yet-unreleased song as part of a short acoustic solo set, titled ‘Villains of Circumstance’

Last night’s Los Angeles performance was part of a benefit concert for Afghan Whigs guitarist Dave Rosser, who has sadly been diagnosed with inoperable colon cancer, and also featured a version of Them Crooked Vultures favourite ‘Spinning In The Daffodils’, jazz legend Cab Callaway’s jaunty ‘Minnie The Moocher’ (first recorded in 1931!), and a cover of Johnny’s Cash’s haunting ‘Dark As A Dungeon.’

To date, the ‘Villains Of Circumstance’ has not been released through any of Homme’s many projects, but it is nevertheless a fan favourite, due to a live bootleg recorded in 2014 at Royal Festival Hall during the Meltdown Festival.

Hopefully the tune will turn up in studio form on the next QOTSA record, which we can reasonably expect to be out in 2017. For now, check out fan-shot recordings of all four songs below.
