In a victory for Aussie Christmas BBQs everywhere, John Farnham & Olivia Newton-John’s Friends For Christmas is currently sitting at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, while Michael Bublé’s Christmas sits at #2.

Bublé’s album has hit the top spot in Australia each December since 2011, with the only exception being last year, when Adele’s 25 occupied pole position for seven straight weeks. (Adele’s 25 still sits at #5 in the chart, more than a year after its release!) John Farnham & Olivia Newton-John’s Friends For Christmas has been on the charts for five weeks, creeping higher as the silly season approaches.

As is usual for this time of the year, there are six other Christmas albums in this week’s top 50: Pentatonix’s A Pentatonix Christmas (#23), Mariah Carey’s evergreen seller Merry Christmas (#24), Human Nature’s The Christmas Album (#25), Pentatonix’s That’s Christmas To Me (#31), The Ten Tenors’ Our Christmas Wish (#33) and Kylie Minogue’s Kylie Christmas (#46).

The next chart comes out on Xmas Eve, and it will be interesting to see if Bublé can claim the top spot. Until then, let Farnesy and that chick from ‘Grease’ soundtrack your holiday season.
