As the trailer for the forthcoming Gurrumul documentary points out, it’s a story about friendship and trust.

The ambitious, feature-length documentary promises to “submerge the audience in the music, patterns and rhythms of Yolngu life and belief system.”

It also shows the deep bond between Gurrumul and his team, including co-manager Mark Grose, who notes the fragile nature of bringing this music to the world.

“Every project that we do, we treat it as though it’s the last project we’ll ever do with him. It could end tomorrow.”

The documentary is produced by Shannon Swan and Skinnyfish, and directed by Paul Williams. No release date has been set.
