By now we’ve all had a laugh at that ridiculously out of touch advertisement by the NSW Government depressingly spruiking all that Sydney’s night-life has to offer, such as over-priced cinemas, tacky night markets, VR gaming, inner-city construction, and cheap parking.

Well for those thousands upon thousands of people that felt this ad missed the mark somewhat, Kings Cross resident Dylan Behan has remade the advertisement to align more accurately with how the city actually is at night, post-lock out law.

“Guys! I fixed that government video about Sydney’s ‘awesome’ late night nightlife options”, Behan wrote on Facebook, posting his version of the video. Behan’s edit starts out with the same cloying narration as the original, before crickets sound and we are treated to a montage of empty store-fronts, closed signs, darkened night-spots, and ‘For Lease’ signs.

Unfortunately, this parody only works because it hits home hard. Compare Behan’s edit with the original hopeful ad; both are below.
